Preparing for your first Pilates, Yoga & Barre Session

The first time I did Pilates, I was working at Canyon Ranch in the Berkshires.  They kindly offered us our mat Pilates certification.  When I saw the teachers I was blown away.  Their core, their posture, their movement was so smooth and controlled.

Pilates is a very professional, client-centered practice. The reformers are so comfortable, clients don't realize how much they are doing- until sore the next day! We choose exercises based on your personalized needs, injuries and fitness goals.

“So what really happens here?” you wonder.

Private Pilates

You will be welcomed by Cindy, our studio manager of your instructor.  You will be asked to fill out a little paperwork for liability reasons.

You can wear or purchase toe sox to protect your feet.  We have water, mats and all the props you need for your workout.  All you need is you!

Your instructor will guide you through a series of movements catering to your fitness goals and modifying for any injuries or limitations. The workout is typically done on the mat, reformer, chair or barrels.  It can be challenging or gentle. With years of experience, clients have experienced an increase in bone density & balance, less joint pain and have healed abdominal separations ("mummy tummy") from choosing the correct exercises.  Don't take my word.. see what our clients are saying HERE.

Yoga Class

Our small group yoga class is led by Maureen Benedict, Baron Baptiste certified instructor. This challenging, yet attainable yoga class is taught with 3-10 participants in our cozy second room.  The Vinyasa Flow is intended to create heat and build strength.  You will leave feeling energized and refreshed! This is the only class you will want to bring your yoga mat to.

What to bring?

We provide mats, water and the equipment for your workout.  Please wear yoga or toe-sox for sanitary reasons and to protect your feet from slipping with Pilates exercises. Please bring a yoga mat to your yoga class or private.

What to wear to your first session?

You can wear comfortable clothing.  For men, we encourage a tighter short under loose shorts, as some of the reformer exercises are performed lying on your back.  No shoes are needed.
