EFT Tapping for Postpartum Anxiety
Are you a new mom experiencing heart palpitations when you lie down at night or during the day? Maybe you're feeding the baby in the middle of the night and struggling to fall back asleep. You could be dealing with anxiety. Heart palpitations or feeling like you can't relax are early signs of anxiety, and the goal is to help your body feel calm.
EFT Tapping for Anxiety
One way I’ve managed anxiety without medication is through EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) tapping. Have you heard of it? Let me know in the comments if you've tried it before! Today, I’m going to guide you through an EFT tapping routine specifically for postpartum anxiety. This can be especially helpful for new moms who have experienced baby loss, are dealing with intrusive thoughts, or feel overwhelmed. I hope that you’ll replay this video and practice often to release those subconscious thoughts and feel more like yourself again.
Let’s get started. On a scale from 1 to 10 being not anxious at all and 10 being a panic attack, how are you feeling right now? Panic attacks and heart palpitations can be scary, but there’s a way to calm down quickly using EFT tapping. While I’m not a certified EFT instructor, I’ll provide a link below to The Tapping Solution website and app for more information. Practicing this regularly can help overcome anxiety, and my goal is to share what has helped me in the hope that it will help you, too.
Now, let's begin with the tapping points: start by tapping on the side of your hand (karate chop point), then move to your eyebrow, side of the eye, under the eye, under the nose, chin, collarbone, underarm, and finally the top of the head.
Before we start, take note of your anxiety level on the 1-10 scale. After we finish the tapping session, we’ll check in again to see how much it has improved.
EFT Tapping How To…
Let’s begin by tapping on the side of your hand and taking a deep breath. Feel free to replace any of the following words with your own thoughts:
Even though I’m feeling heart palpitations, I deeply love and respect myself.
Even though I’m feeling overwhelmed, I deeply love and respect myself.
Even though I’m worried about my baby’s sleep/health, I deeply love and respect myself.
Even though I’m worried about finances, I deeply love and respect myself.
Even though I’m not sleeping and feel overwhelmed by life, I deeply love and respect myself.
Even though I feel like I’m not a good mom, I deeply love and respect myself.
Now, let’s go through another round of tapping, focusing on any specific fears or anxieties you have. Vocalize them as you tap:
Even though I’m scared of [fill in the blank], I deeply love and respect myself.
Even though I’m anxious about my health, I deeply love and respect myself.
Take a deep breath after each round. Now, let’s focus on positive affirmations:
I am an amazing mother.
I am exactly what my child needs.
I am a loving partner.
I love my body.
I am exactly where I need to be.
Check in with yourself again. On a scale from 1 to 10, where is your anxiety now? Hopefully, it has improved. Let me know in the comments below how your anxiety level changed during this session.
If this was helpful and you plan to practice tapping, I’d love to hear about it.
Thank you for joining me!
