5 Myths You Believe About Using Natural Remedies With Kids {but you never should}

There’s so much fear of using herbal medicine and homeopathy with babies, toddlers, and big kids.

Moms and their partners have so many worries.

… What if it hurts them?

…What if it doesn’t work fast enough?

… What if I make them more sick?

…What if it drops my milk supply?

Rightfully so.

In 2017, The FDA found Belladonna to be a risk to children. They state: “The agency is warning consumers that homeopathic teething tablets containing belladonna pose an unnecessary risk to infants and children and urges consumers not to use these products.

But, the truth is, when used correctly herbal and homeopathic medicine is safe for our children. And for parents who don’t want to use too much conventional medication with their children - It’s a must!

Let’s uncover some of your fears.

Myth #1: Homoeopathy is not safe

Homeopathy is the safest medicine for our children; when used correctly.

Homeopathy is based on two principles.

  • #1 “Like cures like”. So you’re looking for the symptoms in your child and matching it to the symptoms of the remedy. In order to do so, you want to look for strange, rare, and unusual symptoms.

  • For example, your baby is usually calm and likes to play by themselves. But one day, all they want to do is be held; the moment you put them down they scream! This is the perfect sign they are teething and need Chamomilla.

  • #2 The more diluted the substance is, the stronger it is. The law of infinitesimals.

  • I always suggest my parents purchase a 6c or 30c as beginner homeopaths in training. Don’t purchase anything else, even if the store does not have it.

Homeopathy Benefits

  • Fast acting, when you know what you are looking for

  • Soothes the nervous system and overthinking

  • It takes the fear away

  • Changes the “energy” in the house - from fear to safety

Myth #2: Homeopathy will hurt my child

Let’s take the Belladonna case above.

When moms started using the teething remedies with Belladona, they may have “overdosed”.

  • One of the principles of homeopathic medicine states: “Minimal Dose”

  • That means less and more and you’re waiting and seeing and watching for any changes in the body.

  • The symptoms SHOULD increase and then decrease - that would be the correct remedy and then you should stop dosing.

New homeopaths may think they need to continue to dose BUT don’t. Stop and wait.
