Why We Love Seeking Health

When there are so many supplements on the market, how do you choose one that supports you the best? And the supplement that works for what you want it to do? If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by choosing supplements and don’t know why you’re taking the ones you’re taking, this post is for you.

We’ll dive into why you want to choose Seeking Health vitamins and how I use them, along with my favorite supplement for estrogen clearance.

Seeking Health Supplements

What is Seeking Health?

Seeking Health supplements are designed and created by Dr. Ben Lynch. If you don’t know Dr. Ben Lynch, he wrote the life-changing book called Dirty Genes.

He’s been teaching us about the MTHFR gene variant for years, and shares how FOLIC acid is affecting our health, especially if you have one of the variants of the MTHFR gene that cause health problems, called SNPs.

  • The MTHFR gene's job is to make the #1 form of folate called methylfolate.

  • Methylfolate consists of 80% of the circulating folate in your blood

  • Methylfolate supports methylation, which is a process that turns genes on/off, breaks down histamines and norepinephrine, supports the development of the baby, and creates creatine.

  • Methylation is the cornerstone of your health, your energy, your gene expression, and your ability to detoxify environmental toxins.

A few things I love about Seeking Health

  • You can search by health concern

  • You can trust the ingredients inside

  • They have high-quality Ashwagandha KSM-66

  • You can purchase affordable testing to see if you have the MTHFR gene

Seeking Health Genetic Testing

One of the main reasons people find Dr. Ben Lynch is due to his teachings on the MTHFR gene. There are some key symptoms that would guide you to knowing you have this gene. I cover it in this blog post - I’ve found doing the testing is helpful, especially in times of crisis when you want some hard facts guiding you toward healing.

I found Dr. Ben Lynch when I was living in Mold and had the experience of Lyme, Mold, and Heavy Metal toxicity. My doctor tested me for the MTHFR gene, which explained why I struggled so much with my health when we moved into this house that had mold toxicity.

When you have the MTHFR gene, you have a harder time methylating or processing synthetic vitamins (i.e., folic acid). Dr. Ben Lynch explains folate vs folic acid in this blog post.

Methylated B vitamins can cause side effects. Here’s a great blog post explaining which type of b vitamin you may want to purchase based on your unique genes.

Seeking Health B12

What kind should you take? Some people get an increase in symptoms after taking methylated vitamins.

  • Symptoms like headaches, nervousness, or rapid heartbeat

Dr. Ben Lynch suggests taking folinic acid if this happens.

Folinic Acid by Seeking Health contains a potent dose of methyl-free folate as folinic acid. Each delicious lozenge provides 1,360 mcg DFE (800 mcg) of folate in a well-digested form.†

4 Other Types of B Vitamins

  • Cyanocobalamin - synthetic B12 that is poorly utilized by the body. Throw it away!

  • Methylcobalamin - A biochemically active form of B12 important for methylation. Many people are deficient--vegans/vegetarians, those who take antacids, or don't eat much meat.

  • Adenosylcobalamin - The mitochondrial form of B12 that supports energy production. These patients may have high methylmalonic acid (MMA) levels.

  • Hydroxocobalamin - Can be used to reduce nitric oxide levels if they are too high.

Seeking health optimal prenatal reviews

When choosing a prenatal or even postnatal vitamin, you want to look for ones with folate. The optimal prenatal vitamin has a combination of adenosylcobalamin and methylcobalamin, plus active folate. Additionally, I love how this vitamin has milk thistle to support your liver, ginger root to aid digestion and reduce nausea and B6 to support sleep.

Ingredients in Seeking Health Optimal Prenatal Include:

  • Milk thistle, Ginger Root & B6

  • Bioavailable B12 (MECOBALACTIVE®)- Adeno and Methyl B Vitamins combined

  • Active Folate (Quatrefolic®)

  • Choline (as phosphatidylcholine and choline bitartrate)

  • Vitamin A

You can use this vitamin during pregnancy and after as well.

Other supplements I love from Seeking Health

  • Take magnesium glycinate powder at night in water to support sleep, reduce anxiet and even for leg cramps and restless leg syndrome

  • Does wine keep you up at night? Dr. Ben Lynch suggests this

    • Before drinking alcohol, especially red or white wine or champagne, do this

Take HistamineX x 1-2 capsules before alcohol

Optimal Molybdenum Drops x 10 to 15 drops directly by mouth.

      • There are 600 drops per bottle.

You can add Thiamine x 1 capsule (50 mg) as well for added benefit.

    • I’ve found the Histamine X is enough.

      • My son also takes Histamin X when he consumes foods that cause a histamine reaction in his body

  • How to clear estrogen from your body

  • For estrogen clearance, I use the DIM + I3c and Calcium-D-Glucarate, BUT DIM can lower your serotonin… causing you to be sad.

    • If I use too much and feel down, I’ll use the Serotonin Nutrients to feel balanced again

    • Serotonin nutrients are safe for breastfeeding mommas, but not safe for pregnant mothers.

Summary

When you find a company that educates you on WHY you’re consuming these vitamins each day, it brings comfort to you. If you haven’t already, start taking notes on your major symptoms, the supplements you’re taking, and why you’re taking them. When you stop consuming them, is usually when you notice that they’re working.
